Galapagos 5 Days: Land & Dive
ITINERARY DETAILS
Day 1 Transfer + Charles Darwin Research Station
The flight from Quito or Guayaquil to the Galapagos Islands takes approximately 2½ hours. Our Naturalist Guide will pick you up from Baltra airport to start your amazing adventure. Transferred by bus to the Itabaca Channel, where a 10 min ferry will take us across to Santa Cruz Island where we travel by car to the main town and your hotel for the evening in Puerto Ayora. In the afternoon, you will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station. Founded in 1959, this center for scientific research and environmental education is a must see for every visitor to the islands. The infamous Lonesome George can be seen here along with hundreds of young tortoises bred for future release across the islands.
Take the rest of the evening to enjoy the sights and sounds of this seaside town.
Day 2: Diving Tour
Meet at 7 am at the dive shop to head out on a dive adventure to some of the best locations in the Galapagos. Return around 2:30 pm and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening in the town, enjoying the sights and sounds of local wildlife attempting to snatch a treat at the fish market or simply admire the seals on the jetty.
Day 3 : Day Tour to Isabela Island.
At 7am, we adventure two hours west to the largest island in the archipelago, Isabela Island. The morning will be spent with your guide around the town of Puerto Villamil visiting the Giant Tortoise Breeding Center where they are breeding 5 different species of tortoise from the different volcanoes on Isabela. The Flamingo lagoon and the nearby beaches covered in hundreds of marine iguanas are also on the list. In theafternoon you will be shown back to the port to embark on the Bay Tour. During the afternoon you will be taken to Las Tintoreras, the home of the white tipped reef sharks, and a small bay where the Galapagos Penguins like to frequent. It is here that you will have time for snorkelling, though you will have to be quick to get a glimpse of the penguins underwater.
Return at 5 pm and enjoy your evening at your leisure.
Day 4: Highland Tour + Twin craters + Tortuga Bay beach
After breakfast, we will visit Rancho Primicias in search of giant tortoises in their natural highlands habitat and a walk through the lava tunnels and twin craters Los Gemelos.After breakfast, we will visit Rancho Primicias in search of giant tortoises in their natural highlands habitat and a walk through the lava tunnels and twin craters Los Gemelos.In the afternoon have to adventure to Tortuga Bay and keep an eye out for sea lions and marine iguanas basking on the sand while white sharks and tropical fish can be seen under the water with a snorkel.
Day 5: Transfer out
